Decentralization Theatre - Decred Today LIVE #3
True decentralisation is irreversible. By taking an iterative approach everything can be fully tested against a variety of threat models in the public domain.
In this show, I’ll be discussing the importance and theories of decentralisation and why the large majority of projects won’t achieve this goal.
If you’re interested in coming on the show in future weeks and trying out crypto products like Decrediton, Bison Wallet (aka DCRDEX) or Bison Relay, join us and we’ll get you started.
Livestream Agenda:
This weeks elevator pitch:
An iterative approach to decentralisation. True decentralisation is irreversible. By taking an iterative approach, decentralisation only happens once each component and element has been fully tested against a variety of threat models in the public domain. Two examples of this include Decred’s Treasury and Decred’s Privacy Mixing.
Thought for this show
Decentralised theatre and why initial decisions will impact this further down the line. Decentralisation is an iterative process.
The main questions for this show:
Decentralised elements:
- Full Nodes - why do we need them and how many make a solid base for decentralisation? And where these nodes should be stored e.g. at home, AWS,
- Mobile / SPV and Liteclients
- Mining, staking and governance
- Coin supply, whales and exchanges
- Size of the blockchain, pruning and sharding
- Layer 1 and Layer 2 scaling
